The Kates Marketing Group began in May of 1965 when Stan Kates founded Kates Advertising Limited.
Kates Advertising Limited was established to offer advertising and promotional services to builders and developers in the Toronto area. By 1970, Kates Advertising Limited was the largest real estate-focused advertising agency in Canada with a staff of over 65, operating across Canada, in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and St. John.
In the early 1970's, the company developed a reputation along with the necessary expertise as a full service advertising and marketing agency and began to work with builders also in the U.S..
In addition to advertising and promotional services the company began to offer merchandising services, sales strategies, sales management and expanded into the area of product development.
The company developed Priority Preview™ Marketing - a unique technique for pre-marketing and pre-sales without the use of models or show homes.
Priority Preview™ Marketing is a registered trademark as well as a successful marketing strategy .It was the first application of database management in the marketing of residential real estate. Since 1972 it has undergone significant development and has now become almost a science.

Stan Kates is the chairman of the Kates Marketing Group and is still the active President of Kates Advertising Limited. He is recognized as a "guru" in the world of real estate marketing and is often a guest speaker at the national Homebuilder's Association conventions in the United States and the Canadian Homebuilder's conventions in Canada.
